I have decided to run for the Loves Park city council because there is this sense of disconnect between the current makeup of our city government and we, the taxpaying citizens who pay our taxes dutifully. As a firm believer government can be a force of good for all the people, from the business owner to the homeowner to the visitor just driving through, if honored with your vote, I pledge to be that ray of hope for a more transparent city government. Where your voice really does matter and where nepotism and backroom deals are a thing of the past. I believe in a government that responds proactively to problems instead of re-actively after the fact. One that grabs a hold of the future and takes the occasional chance to break from the same useless status quo currently making so many elected officials paralyzed with fear of making a hard decision.
My family and I moved to Loves Park in 2004. I graduated from Streamwood (IL) High School in 1988, earning a degree in Accounting in 2003. I’ve been married to Christina for 26 years and have three beautiful daughters; Ashley, Sarah, and Amanda. All have been Harlem Huskies. I’ve held many careers; from being a line cook to a cab driver, a lawn care specialist to a loader/unloader for UPS, an over-the-road truck driver to currently being a school bus driver for Harlem Consolidated #122 the last six years. I have a pretty good understanding of the daily struggles of everyday workers. The fear of being a paycheck away from losing everything. Using our social safety net programs (unemployment, welfare, food stamps) when we’ve needed it, and getting off of them the moment we didn’t.
I have humbly and happily volunteered some of my time for the following –>
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful for their clothing, metals, drug/medicine drives, and annual Clean Up Day
The annual MS Walk for the Cure at Klehm’s Arboretum in Rockford, IL
The Loves Park VFW for the Homeless Veterans Christmas Day breakfast, 2015 & 2016
I have volunteered for little league as coach and loved supporting youth athletics in the community.
I’ve also driven for the local Veterans Affairs driving vets from Rockford to the Madison, Wisconsin VA clinic and done some time at the Northern Illinois Food Bank
